
Aggravated assault charges laid after 2-year investigation
After a 2-year-long investigation, a 53-year-old woman faces a number of charges, including aggravated assault, in relations to injuries suffered by a five-year-old child.
The case began back in November 2021, where the OPP and Treaty #3 Police were investigating a serious assault in Wabaseemoong Independant Nations.
On Friday, charges were laid against the aforementioned suspect, which includes failing to provide necessaries of life, abandoning a child and criminal negligence causing bodily harm. She is set to appear in Kenora Court on November 23rd.
The suspect was an employee of Wabaseemong Child and Family Services at the time.
