
Thief arrested in Rainy River district
Rainy River District OPP have arrested an alleged “habitual” property crime offender.
Officers received a complaint about a theft in the Rainy River district on June 3, along with a description of the suspect.
Police searched the area for a considerable amount of time and were initially unsuccessful, but caught a lead after being alerted that the suspect was trespassing in a rural cottage area by a nearby resident.
Police caught up with the suspect, and after a brief foot pursuit they finally apprehended them. Various stolen property was also recovered after further investigation.
The 44-year-old woman from Rainy River faces charges of Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order.
The suspect has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 27.
