
9,285 hectare fire north of Cat Lake First Nation
A massive forest fire continues to burn north of Cat Lake First Nation.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reports the Sioux Lookout #7 fire has grown to 9,285 hectares and is not under control.
12 fire crews and 4 helicopters have been battling the blaze, and the MNRF says the fire is burning away from the community. No evacuation orders have been issued at this point.
As of right now, there are 6 active forest fires in the Northwest region, with 3 labelled as “not under control.”
