Freedom Convoy 2022 goes through Kenora
The Freedom Convoy made it’s way through Kenora on Tuesday night, and residents braved the cold to show their support.
The convoy of between 200 and 300 transports arrived into town just after 8pm and slowly made it’s way through town, where it stayed overnight before continuing it’s journey to Ottawa to protest the mandatory vaccine policies for truckers.
The mandate took effect on January 15th for Canada, and January 22nd for the United States, that all truck drivers must be fully vaccinated in order to cross the border. The reason for the mandate is for truckers is to avoid a 14-day quarantine after crossing the border.
The Freedom Convoy is spread all across the country, with thousands of truckers from all parts of Canada. The movement has made over 5 million dollars on GoFundMe, which is said to fund the truckers for their journey.
On Wednesday morning, they departed Kenora and are expected to be in Thunder Bay the following afternoon.
