
Collision Near Kenora Leads to Dangerous Driving Charges
A transport truck driver faces a charge of dangerous driving after a collision that took place on Highway 17A near Kenora early this morning.
At around 2am, the truck struck a rock cut with the tractor unit becoming engulfed in flames. The driver and single passenger escaped safely and were taken to hospital and have since been released. The driver of the transport has been given a charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
No other vehicles were involved.
The incident lead to a lengthy closure of Highway 17A between Airport Road and Jones Road overnight, where Kenora Fire and Emergency Services were able to successfully extinguish the fire as Godbout Towing cleared the debris. The highway was reopened before 10am Wednesday morning.
