
OPP Investigates Train Fatality Near Fort Frances
Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old man on the railway tracks just west of Fort Frances.
Police were contacted by the Canadian National Railway around 2:30 Saturday morning after locomotive engineers reported seeing something suspicious on the railway tracks in Alberton Township.
Just one kilometer north of Kehl Road rail crossing, officers found the body of a man lying on the tracks. The deceased was identified to be Darryl Joseph Sakchekapo from Niacatchewenin First Nation.
Railway traffic was halted for seven hours as police conducted the investigation.
OPP are asking anyone with information that may assist them in the ongoing investigation to contact them.
