Central Park Closure as Construction Begins
As construction in the Central Park area begins, residents can expect delays as a portion of Park Street will be closed for the day, and a section of Second Street South will be closed until further notice. Detour routes will be put in place.
A speed limit in the construction zone will be put in place and a speed bump will be installed on Park Street to protect a bypass pumpline. Drivers and motorists are advised to drive slowly and carefully.
In addition to the temporary road closures, sidewalks will also be closed to pedestrian traffic effective today until Tuesday, August 31st. The sidewalk on Park Street between Seventh Avenue South and Eighth Avenue South will be closed to allow workers to prepare for the Central Park projects.
